The highly-rumored crossover between "Fortnite" and "Mortal Kombat" is finally here, and it features one of its most popular characters to join the party. One of the coldest characters in "Mortal Kombat," Sub-Zero, is best known for being the only character to appear in every game from the franchise, and he is now set to infiltrate the Battle Island.
The massive crossovers and collaborations of "Fortnite" have always been celebrated by fans worldwide for incorporating much of the world's pop culture from the past and present, including other video games.
'Fortnite' x 'Mortal Kombat' Crossover Brings Sub-Zero
The upcoming Chapter 6 Season 2 on "Fortnite" has been revealed, and it will feature the "Lawless" theme with a surprise appearance of "Mortal Kombat's" Sub-Zero. Sub-Zero's arrival will be part of the game's new Battle Pass for the new season in Chapter 6, but he is the only collaboration skin that is part of the latest content.
In this latest Battle Pass reveal, the new skins are part of a somewhat criminal lineup in prison, where suspects are identified by their victims after being profiled by the police, but no other details were revealed.
This is also the first time that Warner Bros. Games' "Mortal Kombat" is crossing over with Epic Games' "Fortnite," but the duo did not include many more iconic characters from the fighting franchise. Other iconic characters include Sub-Zero's mortal enemy, Scorpion; Liu Kang, Johnny Cage, Jax, Raiden, Mileena, and more who are also immediately noticeable by fans and non-fans alike.
Epic Games has yet to reveal any details behind the upcoming Battle Pass, as well as Sub-Zero's special items or powers to be available in the game.
What to Expect From 'Fortnite' Chapter 6 Season 2?
"Fortnite" Chapter 6 Season 2 still has limited information as of writing, and the developers only revealed the Battle Pass of this upcoming update that will go live by Friday, Feb. 21. That being said, while the C6S2 Battle Pass content is not filled with many crossover characters, including the absence of the menacing Scorpion, it features a new look for Midas, a Pickle, a Batwoman-like skin, a Wolf, and more.
The latest drops from "Fortnite" included the arrival of Sam Wilson's Captain America after the theatrical release of "Captain America: Brave New World," the Iron Legion, and "Avatar's" Jake Sully and Neytiri.
'Fortnite' Collabs, Crossovers Are Top Tier
"Fortnite" is highly regarded for its collaborations and crossovers as Epic Games put extreme effort into partnering with companies and developers to make these experiences possible, with many new content available on a regular. One of the biggest drops from last year was "Absolute Doom," a Marvel-themed crossover featuring Doctor Doom, the Avengers, and more from the renowned comic book authority.
That being said, Epic Games made sure to bring the renowned kaiju of pop culture with Godzilla and King Kong joining the battle royale for the public to play.
