Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator is a fitting end to the Five Nights At Freddy’s series, but there are plenty of questions this game doesn’t answer. Here are six major puzzles not fully solved by FNaF 6.
SPOILERS for all of Five Nights At Freddy’s are below.
1) Who Is Cassette Man: Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator is narrated by a man on a series of cassette tapes, and we technically never find out who he is. While names in the game’s files point to the speaker being Henry, the former business partner of the villainous William Afton, that info isn’t explicitly shared in-game.
That’s pretty nuts considering players follow this guy’s orders throughout the entire story. We can’t truly understand the motivations behind his plan without knowing who he is. If assumptions from fans are to be believed, Henry’s daughter is thought to be one of William’s first victims in the ‘70s. To get revenge, Henry asks the player to salvage the remaining animatronics and destroy them in a fire. Henry’s daughter started everything, and now Henry is likely hoping to end it.
2) When Do FNaF 3 And Pizzeria Sim Take Place: Timelines are everything in the Five Nights At Freddy’s fandom, especially in the case of understanding the plot of Five Nights At Freddy’s 3 and Pizzeria Simulator. We need to know which of these games came first. Springtrap is “destroyed” in a fire at the end of both plots, so which trap is the true end?
Furthermore, if William has survived flaming death once before, who’s to say he can’t do it again? Cassette man’s good ending speech makes everything sound final, but is that truly the case? Fredbear and friends are put to rest, but could William still be around to start a new group? If FNaF 3 is the ultimate conclusion, newspaper clippings suggest he may have escaped. When your slogan is “I always come back,” can we really trust that Springtrap is ever dead?
3) What’s With William’s Wife: A central part of the Afton tragedy is that William basically loses his entire family at the hand of the animatronics he helped create. This starts at Circus Baby’s Pizza World, where his daughter Elizabeth is lured and killed by Baby. William’s younger son is the next to go in the dreaded Bite Of ‘83, shown during Five Nights At Freddy’s 4. William’s eldest son Michael is scooped at the end of Sister Location, and while he may have survived the ordeal, he’s turned against his father.
The mother to all of these children, however, is one huge question mark. Some theories suggest she divorced him, and the split is referenced in between the nights of Sister Location. More adventurous community theories say she is also killed and inhabits Ballora in Sister Location and “Molten Freddy” in this new game. If the latter is true, why does she switch animatronics while her children can’t? Why didn’t we see her die but had to witness the unfortunate fates of her children?
4) What Happens To Michael: We touched on this a bit already, but if Michael really is the second savior in Pizzeria Simulator, how on earth does he survive being scooped and then having the haunted animatronic bits ripped from his body later on? We see that scene play out during Sister Location Custom Night, but it’s a bit much, even for series creator Scott Cawthon.
That’s just not something anyone can come back from. Yes, Five Nights At Freddy’s takes place in a universe where haunted animatronics from the ‘70s can talk and kill, but something doesn’t sit right with us for this particular leap in logic.
5) Who Puts The Crying Child Back Together: At the end of Five Nights At Freddy’s 4, a mysterious voice tells Afton’s dying son that he will be “put back together.” If the Happiest Day mini-game is any indication, the boy later goes on to inhabit Golden Freddy. The question is, how the heck did he get there?
Is Henry’s daughter speaking to him as the Puppet, and how is that happening? Is William speaking as he stuffs his son into a Golden Freddy suit? Does William understand the whole reanimation subject even at this early point in the timeline? This is, again, one of those logic leaps we may never comprehend. It’s also possible Cawthon intended to address this moment in a future game but changed his mind.
6) Who Originally Inhabited The Puppet: After dissecting the Security Puppet lore bit from Pizzeria Simulator, the running fan theory is that Henry’s daughter is killed and the Puppet heads out into the rain to retrieve the body. The animatronic is damaged by the moisture, and this allows the dead girl’s spirit to take over.
If that’s the case, who was the first inhabitant? Was it another one of William’s victims? How does this reanimation phenomenon truly begin? We may never get an answer, and maybe there isn’t one. But the Puppet made its way out into that storm somehow.
