‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 6 Spoilers: New Photos Bring A Dead Book Character To Life

HBO released new photos from Game of Thrones Season 6 with a surprising number of spoilers. One of the biggest reveals is the return of Balon Greyjoy, a character long dead in the Game of Thrones novels. Could Season 6 of Game of Thrones finally give us a Kingsmoot?

The new photos from Game of Thrones Season 6 include both Balon Greyjoy and Yara. This suggests the Greyjoy family will have a much bigger role to play in Season 6 than they have since at least Game of Thrones Season 3, when Yara was last seen trying to break Theon Greyjoy out of the Bolton kennels.

In the A Song of Ice and Fire novels on which Game of Thrones is based, Balon Greyjoy died under shady circumstances (he fell off a bridge in a storm). Since Greyjoys got to Greyjoy, the divided family met on an Iron island, Old Wyk, to determine a new king. Yara puts herself forward, but is challenged by her brothers, Euron and Victarion.

Pilou Asbæk has been cast as Euron. And even though there’s no word of a Victarion appearance, it’s now looking more likely than ever that Balon Greyjoy will die this season, leaving Yara and Euron to fight over the throne.

Though it’s nice to see Balon again, his appearance in Game of Thrones Season 6 is most likely to be short and ultimately fatal. We’ll know for sure on the day all spoilers begin to rot, the Game of Thrones premiere date, April 24.

Oh, and if this guy ever gets his shit together, he can try for the Greyjoy crown too:
