Be sure to stay tuned with us the whole week as we bring you the latest from Gamescom 2019 in the form of the latest trailers, announcements, news and other information drops on all the newest games hitting the market.
One of the most surprising announcements to come out of Sony’s last State of Play back in May was the asymmetric multiplayer game Predator: Hunting Grounds, developed by Illfonic and released exclusively on the PlayStation 4. There hasn’t been much news since its initial short teaser trailer reveal, but now the developer has released a gameplay trailer for Predator: Hunting Grounds, which was shown during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live presentation. Check it out below.
As pretty as the game looks right now, with light hitting the foliage and the world filled with abundant color, there seems to be issues with the game’s framerate. It’s persistent throughout the gameplay section of the video, and becomes more pronounced when there are a lot of things happening in the background like explosions and shooting.
As for the gameplay itself, it would appear that the four-player Fire Team will be playing in first-person mode, while the Predator will be playing in third-person. Sound design is pretty on point at least, and playing as the Predator as he traverses the treetops while invisible looks like a lot of fun. That said, Predator: Hunting Grounds needs a lot of work, as you can’t really enjoy a gameplay-heavy title like this when it is riddled with poor optimization issues, in particular the framerate.
Predator: Hunting Grounds will be released on the PlayStation 4 in 2020.
Be sure to stick around for more news on the latest happenings in Gamescom all throughout the week.
