The long-rumored GTA Trilogy Remastered seems more and more likely every passing day. The game compilation, which contains the remasters of GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas, was revealed via GRAC, short for Game Rating and Administration Committee.
GRAC is the video game rating board in South Korea. Meaning that the information you get from this source is most likely accurate. Twitter user @Nibellion was the first person to spot the listing of Grand Theft Auto Trilogy: The Definitive Edition.
Previous Rumors and Unannounced Remasters
According to previous rumors, the remasters were being developed by Rockstar Dundee, which was recently purchased by Rockstar Games. They were previously known as Ruffian Games and have worked on Halo: Master Chief Collection, and Crackdown 2 and 3, which put our mind at ease.
The same report further claimed that the trilogy was developed using Unreal Engine. Meaning that the apparent trilogy won't be a spit-and-polish remaster like Mafia 2 Definitive Edition. Instead, you could expect actual effort this time around.
Take-Two Interactive has given some weight to these rumors. The publishing giant claimed in the past that they have three unannounced remakes or remasters currently in development. All of this couldn't be just a coincidence.
Possible Release Date
The listing of the trilogy specified no release date. However, a recent post has suggested that these games will release in November on all major consoles. The PC and mobile versions will launch sometime in 2022.
Some other reports claim that the trilogy will only arrive in 2022. I guess only time will tell which leak is accurate. We are sure that the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic also affected the release date.
GTA 5 Next-Gen Upgrade
GTA Trilogy is not the only remaster project Rockstar has in development. The next-gen upgrade of GTA 5 has already been confirmed. The new version will release on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 in March 2022. But the PC version has not been confirmed just yet, and fans' reaction to recent trailers has not exactly been great.
