GTA Online has been out and relevant for so long, it has even managed to pick up on some traditions along the way. Now that we're in the month of December, insiders are speculating on the return of another Festive Surprise DLC to celebrate Christmas.
GTA Online has enjoyed a Festive Surprise for three years in a row. Based on past trends, the DLC content typically arrives on a Tuesday approximately a week ahead of Christmas. For 2017, Dec. 19 looks like the most probably release date.
Past Festive updates not only featured snow, but also holiday-themed apparel, special seasonal car horns, masks, decor for your penthouse, and even brought back previously discontinued items like the fire launcher. While we don't know what to expect in the coming Festive Surprise, we're hoping to see more of that sort of content arrive as well.
In addition to all that, the Festive Surprise DLC is expected to follow another major GTA Online DLC due in December. GTA insiders believe a DLC that follows Smuggler's Run is slated to arrive next Tuesday, Dec. 12, following the end of the Double GTA$ and RP Bonus events on Dec. 11.
On Monday, we shared leaks via MrBossFTW that suggest the upcoming DLC could be Gunrunning Part II. According to insider BenDeR_ on the GTA Forums, Rockstar has been working on development for the update as far back as July, but it has yet to be released. While Gunrunning introduced a fleet of weaponized cars and Smuggler's Run introduced a fleet of weaponized airplanes, BenDeR_ believes Part II could be a continuation of the theme, possibly bringing weaponized boats to finish off land, sea and air.
Only time will tell what's coming to GTA Online in the near future. For now, stay tuned as we expect to learn more from Rockstar in the weeks ahead.
