343 Industries added a new DLC in the Microsoft Store for Halo 5: Guardians, and the money raised will go towards COVID-19 relief funds. “Be a hero and lend a hand to those in need. Support impacted communities and protect the most vulnerable with the Relief & Recovery REQ Pack in Halo 5," Halo tweeted out. "All proceeds go directly to GlobalGiving's Coronavirus Relief Fund.”
The Relief & Recovery REQ Pack in Halo 5 is basically rare items that can be used in multiplayer. It is a $10 microtransaction which will directly aid the relief fund. The DLC comes with five cosmetic items that are very rare. Those that buy the pack will also get 10 boost cards which can help players level up faster.
Halo 5 is not the first game that has helped to raise funds for the ongoing pandemic. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare also had a fund-raising event before Halo 5. The ongoing pandemic might last for a long time, and during this time we should come together and help each other out. You can buy Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Steam, which remasters all the older games to spend your time under quarantine having fun as Master Chief.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare recently added a microtransaction called Defender, which supported military veterans during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Minecraft also recently started giving out educational content due to the fact that schools are closed and they want students to continue learning.
So, what are your thoughts on 343 Industries helping out through this pandemic? Do you think other companies will follow suit? Personally, I think it’s a good idea to help out however possible during this dire situation. Whatever your thoughts may be, let us know in the comments below.
