Saviors of Uldum, the newest expansion for Hearthstone, has officially been released by Blizzard Entertainment. This is the second part of the game's year-long trilogy.
The latest expansion comes with 135 new cards, which expands the deckbuilding possibilities offered in the game especially with new minions, spells, and weapons plucked from the wind-swept deserts of Uldum, an ancient civilization filled with musty tombs, powerful artifacts, and pulse-pounding peril.
Saviors of Uldum also marks the thrilling return of four of the game's most popular characters, the League of Explorers. The League of Explorers are Elise Starseeker, Brann Bronzebeard, Sir Finley Mrrglton, and Reno Jackson. All four have leveled up in legendary fashion. Making the game exciting is that this quartet of questing archaeologists now each feature a powerful Battlecry effect which triggers as long as there are no duplicate cards in the player’s deck.
New additions that arrive in the game with Saviors of Uldum are potent Plague cards. A good example of this is the Plague of Murlocs which transforms every minion on the board into one of the aggressive yet adorable amphibians.
Players are also going to encounter the new keyword Reborn. This describes the doggedly persistent minions that return to life with just 1 Health remaining upon being defeated. In addition, all nine hero classes can even embark on new Quests that, upon completion, gives them an alternate Hero Power.
Hearthstone players have long enjoyed regular content updates featuring new and exciting ways to play. This started with the first expansion Rise of Shadows. It was then followed by the single-player Adventure Dalaran Heist which was fun and infinitely replayable. Players also experienced a number of free in-game events that awarded card packs and in-game gold.
Next month, players can expect to explore the Tombs of Terror, the corresponding single-player Adventure for Saviors of Uldum. Like Rise of Shadows, it is going to offer an all-new highly replayable experience with some menacing new twists thrown in for good measure. Blizzard will announce further details on Tombs of Terror in the near future.
Saviors of Uldum card packs are currently winnable in Hearthstone’s Arena mode. Players can also purchase them with in-game gold or real money at the same prices as Hearthstone’s other card packs.
In a statement, Blizzard Entertainment President J. Allen Brack said that they are excited both for players to see the League of Explorers back in action and see all the creative that they bring to their decks with Saviors of Uldum. He went on to say that this expansion "reflects all of the personality and fun of Hearthstone while opening a wide range of strategic possibilities in the game."
