The Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice dev team published a new developer diary this week, to update fans on the progress of the unreleased action game, but not all the news on Ninja Theory’s docket will be welcomed with open arms. It’s particularly disappointing if you were still hoping to see Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice slide onto PC and consoles before Dec. 31.
Rather than beat around the bush, spending most of the minute tooting their own horn and saving the disappointing news for the end, Ninja Theory begins its latest video with an admission that Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice will miss its 2016 launch window. The studio then spends a couple minutes explaining why the game won’t be ready until 2017. Turns out, the decision to improve the game’s motion-captured segments took more time than was originally budgeted for that content. Ninja Theory also had a game cancelled earlier in the year -- which may have been the Disney Infinity sequel we’ll never see -- and winding down work on that project took more time and effort than the studio anticipated.
