Gul’dan, the evil orcish shaman who doomed his entire race, is finally coming to Heroes Of The Storm . When he’s not appearing in blockbuster movies or claiming people's souls in Hearthstone , Gul’dan likes to jump into the fight for the nexus. He plays a bit like Vladimir and Cassiopeia from League of Legends : his sustain is high but when he runs out of resources he’s a sitting duck.
Gul’dan is a sustain assassin who uses his own health to increase his own mana. His passive, Life Tap, which should be familiar for Warlock players in World of Warcraft , takes a percentage of health and converts it into mana. If you start to run low, Gul’dan can use his second ability, Drain Life. He roots himself in place, creating a tether on an enemy that heals him for a percentage of the damage done. Always keep an eye on your health bar, you might have high damage but you are super squishy.
Fel Flame is Gul'dan's first ability; it throws a tiny wave of green Legion energy on the ground. Combined with his third ability, Corruption, which creates three small AOE circles that do damage over time, the shaman has some amazing wave clear that can keep his team constantly pushing towards the enemy base.
Gul’dan’s first heroic is Horrify, which creates a terrifying nightmare to scare enemies away. His second heroic is Rain of Destruction, which shoots down meteors randomly over a large area. Need to defend an objective or stop the enemy from taking a tower? Throw down your rain of meteors or spooky Voidwalker to keep everything safe.
Overall, Gul’dan is extremely strong, if you can find the right times to use Life Tap. Use it too much and you’ll die, use it too little, and you're not dealing enough damage. As long as you can keep the orc who doomed Azeroth healthy, you should have no problem cleaning up team fights.
