Hideo Kojima teased some new information regarding Death Stranding 2 ahead of Gamescom, particularly talking about a new character in the upcoming game.

The tease was made as a post on X that shows another actor's silhouette and many fans quickly pointed out that it matched up with Japanese actor Kenjiro Tsuda.

The actor is known for his voice acting in many popular anime, such as Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Chainsaw Man, and My Hero Academia.

New Death Stranding 2 Tease

Right now, it is still unclear whether or not Tsuda will return as the Japanese voice of a character who was previously seen in the first Death Stranding game, Sam Porter.

However, some fans speculate that he may have an even bigger role this time around, with some thinking he will voice a new character.

Kojima's latest announcement is also reminiscent of a previous one he made where the silhouette turned out to be Elle Fanning.

The actress' role is reportedly so important to the narrative of the sequel that the story would have to have been rewritten if she declined the role, according to DualShockers.

Many fans are now speculating that Kojima's tease will lead to an appearance with a trailer or other form of announcement at Gamescom. The event is scheduled to start on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024.

The tease also comes as fans have very little information about Death Stranding 2 and so far, the only they have is the first trailer that was released in 2022. Furthermore, the details of the game's narrative and gameplay are scarce.

On top of the latest silhouette post, Kojima also announced earlier this year that recording for Death Stranding 2 had been completed. However, it was not immediately clear whether this was referring to the game's English or Japanese cast, said GamesRadar.

Potential New Information

As of earlier this year, in February, Japanese recording had not yet started, which is when Tsuda himself said that he had "no clue" what to expect. This was because Kojima wouldn't actually tell him anything until recording for the game started.

All of the teases so far point out that Death Stranding 2: On The Beach will reveal some more information, particularly at Gamescom. The last time that the game was featured was at the January 2024 State of Play.

At the time, an unusually long nine-minute trailer was shared with the public and fans have since wondered when they will see more of the upcoming game, according to GameRant.
