A new set of Horizon Zero Dawn screenshots are out this week, the first new HZD media we’ve seen since the game’s Tokyo Game Show appearance, and there’s a surprising amount of new content to be seen in this week’s Horizon Zero Dawn images. But we’ll have to keep waiting for official explanation of the new creatures and other content revealed by Guerrilla Games.

Eight new Horizon Zero Dawn screenshots were published this week, each featuring the game’s protagonist, Aloy, and a bit of content not seen in previous HZD previews. There’s a pair of new robotic creatures, one of which looks like some strange evolution (or deformation) of deer, and a few images that trade the lush, heavily-forested regions from previous Horizon Zero Dawn footage for an arid desert environment. There’s also a strange, six-legged machine with what looks to be a massive storage container strapped to its back

We even get a look at another of the many tools Aloy will use to hunt and kill robotic dinosaurs in Horizon Zero Dawn. Like many recent science-fiction titles, HZD will include a scanning tool that lets the player analyze nearby adversaries, revealing the name of the species in question, known weaknesses and other basic information about the creature. And something tells us we’ll have to make good usage of all the tech at Aloy’s advantage if we’re ever going to recreate the one-on-one hunting scene from the studio’s latest image dump.
