It has been a while since we received a new Horizon Zero Dawn update. Apparently, developer Guerrilla Games need a lot of time to solve the never-ending issues of the Horizon Zero Dawn PC port. The PC port is now in much better shape than it was at launch, but it can always be improved further. The latest update for HZD was released today and it made some very important changes.
Thanks to the All-Mother, Anisotropic Filtering now finally works on PC. This issue has been present in the PC port since launch and has only been fixed now. That’s not all, as Guerrilla also made tons of changes to the game engine, especially to the part that is responsible for shaders and shader optimization. No more compulsory waiting for ten minutes for shader optimization at the first launch. Guerrilla has now made it optional. You can play by skipping optimization, but it will lead to a longer loading time.
The new system will now occur every time you launch HZD. I am not the biggest fan of this ‘feature’. I would rather wait for a long time at first launch instead of wait every time I have to load something.
The complete patch notes are mentioned below and on the official site. A small list of known issues is also mentioned below. You can check out the full list of known issues over here.
