If you’re one of those looking for a new horror game, then you’re in luck. That’s because Horror Story: Hallowseed is now available on PC. It’s priced at $19.99 and can be purchased at Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store.
For those who want to know what to expect from this game, it’s inspired by different horror classics like Insidious, The Conjuring, and The Exorcism of Emily Rose. While the game may be a solo project done by Jeff Winner, he expects those to be the first of many games to be released as part of the Winner’s Horror Story series.
In the game, players take on the role of a character who’s out camping in the woods with friends. Their friends suddenly disappear and they are left alone and stranded. As players try to find their friends and learn what happened to them, they’re going to face evil.
The game makes use of advanced AI which reacts to choices and actions done by players. One of the things the AI does is to activate random minor scares and frights. For those who were able to try the game in Early Access, there’s a lot more in the full version with dramatic changes made. Key features of the game include:
- Rich story
- The player is driven by the story of a village whose inhabitants have been seduced by an obscure power and condemned to darkness.
- Players take on the role of Michael, who discovers the role he plays in the tragedy.
- Uncanny puzzles
- Encounter and solve various puzzles to progress the story.
- Stay vigilant and always on the lookout for clues.
- Tense atmosphere
- The immersive sound design and stunning visuals are more than a guarantee to always keep players on their toes.
- Micro-scares system
- A system of random scary events is activated based on how players interact with the environment.
- Try different playthroughs with different choices to experience different scares.
- Terrifying AI
- There’s always a way to survive but players may need several tries to get it right.
What do you think? Can you survive the horror?
