ABC’s How to Get Away with Murder finally has a release date and time: Thursday, Sept. 22 at 10 p.m. EDT/PDT. Actress Viola Davis, who plays Annalise Keating on the drama series, took to Facebook to make the announcement.
Showrunner Peter Nowalk revealed earlier this year that Season 3 will have a different format than the first two seasons. “I like switching it up, honestly,” he told TVLine. “I don’t want the show to become stale. In the back half of Season 2, we had so much emphasis on Rose’s case that there wasn’t room for cases of the week. We’ll probably try to do a balance.”
Season 2 ended with a bang — literally. Wes (Alfred Enoch) confronted his alleged birth father, Wallace Mahoney (Adam Arkin), only to watch him get shot in the head in broad daylight. The killer’s identity has not been revealed and Nowalk told Variety it is possible Mahoney’s killer will be revealed in the first minute. “There are two options for me — it’s either in the first minute in the show, or that’s a longer mystery because it’s a more complicated story,” said Nowalk.
The second season also saw the shocking departure of Frank (Charlie Weber), after Annalise learns how he betrayed her a decade ago. Fans of Frank need not worry, as Weber told TVLine he is still a series regular in Season 3. “You know, it’s not about Frank getting back on the team and going to court,” said Weber in the interview. “He doesn’t give a s–t about that. He just wants things to be OK with Annalise.”
While not much has been revealed about casting and new characters, one fan favorite has been promoted to a series regular: Oliver (Conrad Ricamora). In Season 2, Oliver deletes Connor’s (Jack Falahee) acceptance letter from Stanford and even impersonates his boyfriend in a call to the dean asking them to never call him again. This means both Connor and Oliver will be around for Season 3.
