The highly-anticipated premiere of Preacher on AMC has arrived. The series has been attracting a lot of press lately thanks to its high-profile developer, Seth Rogen, and outstanding critical reviews. The series, which was adapted from a DC comic book series of the same name, has been heralded as the second coming of AMC’s massively popular series, The Walking Dead. Naturally, people want to tune in and see what this Preacher fuss is all about. Here’s how to watch AMC’s Preacher online:
Download the official AMC app and watch Preacher online for free, so long as you have a cable subscription. If you do, you can enjoy the Preacher premiere via iPad, iPhone, Android devices or streaming providers (i.e. Roku). You can also head straight to amc.com, but there’s one more catch to all of this -- you’ll have to wait until the next day for Preacher’s pilot to become available. Unfortunately, the only way to watch the Preacher premiere live is on AMC this Sunday at 10 p.m. ET. Still, if you’ve got a cable subscription, you can enjoy the episode within 24 hours without any additional fee. After that period, you can also purchase the pilot on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play and Xbox.
Now that we’ve got the online streaming details and air date out of the way, what is Preacher actually about? Here’s an official synopsis courtesy of AMC:
Based on the twisted and popular ‘90s comic book franchise of the same name, “Preacher,” created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, is the story of Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that allows him to develop a highly unconventional power. Jesse, his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (Ruth Negga), and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) embark on a journey to, literally, find God. The Sony Pictures Television and AMC Studios co-production was developed for television by Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg (“This Is the End,” “Superbad,” “Neighbors”) and showrunner Sam Catlin (“Breaking Bad”).
If that sounds enticing but you still remain a little skeptical, you can watch the first four minutes of Preacher right below on YouTube. No cable subscription or additional cost necessary!
