Battle Royale games have become very popular these days, and every BR game that has released recently is trying to achieve a similar level of success as PUBG, Fortnite, Apex Legends, and others. As EA and Activision released their own BR games, fans were expecting Ubisoft to release one as well. Even though the company came out with Hyper Scape, it was unfortunately overshadowed by the immense success of Fall Guys. That said, Ubisoft isn't dwelling on the game's lack of popularity, but instead focused on supporting the game and also paying respects to other successful BR games.
Recently, a Reddit user going with the name imBrettValentine discovered a funny Easter egg in Hyper Scape, which is a direct reference to Respawn's Apex Legends. The Easter egg is just a piece of paper with two words written on it: "Mozambique Here!" The Apex Legends community considers the Mozambique shotgun pistol as the weakest weapon in the game, leading fans to create a meme out of it.
It seems that Hyper Scape devs are also vibing with the infamous meme and referring to it in their own game as well. Given how massive battle royale maps are, it becomes easier for developers to hide secret content and references around, which very few players make sense out of.
A day ago, Ubisoft also confirmed a new limited-time event called the Turbo Mode for Hyper Scape, which will kick off on September 15. The mode promises to amp up the speed of the competition by bringing the stats of all items to maximum levels, increased health regeneration speed, and a faster closing ring. Players will need to hold onto the crown for 45 seconds to come out victorious.
Apex Legends also recently received a massive Season 6 update, introducing a brand-new Legend, Rampart. However, the season isn't going all that smooth for Respawn as players have been reporting one bug after another.
Since the Hyper Scape Easter egg has come to light, it'll be interesting to see whether or not Respawn will come out with a witty reply.
Hyper Scape is free-to-play on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The game is also launching on Xbox Series S/X and PS5 in the near future.
