A new iPhone 7 rendering via NWE further reinforces rumors that claim Apple will drop the 3.5mm headphone jack for its next-generation smartphone. According to the images, the iPhone 7 now features a second speaker where the jack used to be located. With dual speakers, the iPhone 7 is able to produce stereo sound.
The 3D CAD renders also feature two distinct designs – a larger single camera cutout for the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 and a capsule-shaped cutout for a dual-lens setup for the larger 5.5-inch model, dubbed either the iPhone 7 Plus or 7 Pro. A Lightning connector remains at the bottom of the iPhone 7, nestled between the pair of speakers. In the upcoming model, the Lightning connector is expected to take on the role of an all-in-one port that serves battery charging, audio output and other accessory connectivity.
As we've seen in previous renders, both models feature a rounded edge, similar to the current iPhone 6. The iPhone 7 render also reveals its antenna band positions just above the camera. Like the iPhone 6, the right edge of the iPhone 7 render features the outline of the power button as well as a slot used for the SIM card. The left edge features a ring/silent switch and also volume controls.
However, the render does not show us the screen design of the iPhone 7, namely the touch home button that is said to replace the physical button on past generations.
