SyFy released three photos and announced in a Tweet Krypton premieres Wednesday, March 21, 2018. We still don't know what time the new DC TV show airs, but hopefully this means a full trailer is on the way. The past few months and Comic Cons have only brought short teaser footage.
The new photos introduce what appears to be most of the House of El. It’s hard to tell, but we want to assume the young boy is Seg (an older version, played by Cameron Cuffe). The bearded man next to him is Ian McElhinney from Game of Thrones, Seg’s grandfather, Val-El. Behind him is Charys-El, played by Paula Malcomson. This suggests the man standing next to her could be Seg’s father, Ter-El, who has been confirmed to appear in the series. The man in black across from them looks to be Daron-Vex, played by Elliot Cowan, but it’s hard to tell from the side.
Val-El is described as a “genius grandpa who defied death by going into the Phantom Zone, and is a staunch believer in space exploration.” It would make sense he’s at odds with Daron-Vex, the Chief Magistrate of Kandor. “His real business is defending Krypton’s established oligarchy against heretics and dissidents,” the character description says. Adam Strange, Hawkwoman, Doomsday, Brainiac, General Zod, Mongul, Nightwing and Flamebird are also confirmed to appear. Read the series synopsis below.
Set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet, Krypton follows Superman’s grandfather — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.
David S. Goyer (Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, The Dark Knight Trilogy) serves as executive producer with Cameron Welsh (Ash vs Evil Dead). Stay tuned for more regarding the premiere time.
