Oh ye of little faith, Riot has heard your cries and changed the rules for League of Legends 2017’s ranked season. On Wednesday afternoon , Riot posted announced that solo-queue will be coming back and dynamic queue will be disappearing, hopefully back into the Void from whence it came.
Players will still be able to pick two positions they prefer, or fill in ranked games. It makes sense that this feature is sticking around; toxicity dropped like a rock in a lake after they implemented this change.
Next year you can play by yourself or with a partner, but no more than that. Challenger players will only able to play by themselves, which should hopefully discourage the high ELO abuse that ran rampant during the days of Dynamic Queue. I will miss the Imaqtpie, Dyrus and Annie Bot streams, but I guess it’s still worth it.
League of Legends is adding a new ranked mode called Ranked Flex. It’s exactly like the Ranked 5’s that League used to have, until Dynamic Queue came along. If a player gets Gold in regular and Ranked Flex, they will earn a special end-of-season reward not yet announced.
I’m extremely happy that Riot are admitting they made a mistake and are going back to the old system.
