The newest League of Legends featured gamemode, Definitely Not Dominion , is now live. Dominion used to be one of League’s three game modes but the powers that be at Riot decided to remove it from the game since it was just a camp ground for bots leveling up accounts. The Crystal Scar, Skarner’s ancestral home, was thought to be removed from the game for good, but it’s again, slightly more updated and more fun.
Definitely Not Dominion is a 5v5 map where you want to bring your enemies’ Nexus health down to zero. You do this by capturing relic points or killing enemy champions. The Nexus starts off with 500 health, and loses 2 HP for each enemy kill and loses even more when you control relics. There are three on the map (regular Dominion had five), all located in the top. Minions spawn from the relics and push onwards to the other ones, even being able to get shrines themselves.
To set this new mode apart from old Dominion, Riot added a few more buffs to the map. On the bottom left and right are two shrines that, when you activate the enemy teams, give your team an ultra minion. Ultra minions are even stronger than super minions; they have more hit points, hit harder than a champion and can capture relics faster than anyone else. If you have an ultra minion pushing for you, guard its ass until it’s at a relic so that you can capture it with few problems.
In the middle of the map lies the Storm Altar, which when captured gives your whole team the storm shield buff. Your next three abilities or attacks do five to seven percent true damage to your enemies. When DND, don’t forget to capture this relic. It may not give you points and help you with your win condition, but it will give you the upper hand in team fights. Winning a duel by just the smallest amount can help you capture more objectives.
Best Champions for Definitely Not Dominion:
- Heimerdinger : He’s the most broken champion in this mode right now. All he has to do is throw down some turrets to defend a relic and there isn’t much an enemy can do. Having the donger in your game will make it feel like you’re playing Overwatch and Torbjorn is defending a payload.
- Katarina : The whirling dervish assassin has struggled a bit on Summoner’s Rift, but seemed to find her place on the Crystal Scar. The tiny alleyways that pepper the map clump enemies together, making them easy prey for Garen’s girlfriend. Just hit every key as fast as possible while in a team fight and you’ve just gotten yourself a pentakill.
- Evelynn : The blue bombshell is a silent killer that stalks the map, waiting for enemies to pop into a bush. Modes without pink wards always benefit Evelynn, because there’s nothing an enemy can do to see you coming. Build full AP and watch your targets disintegrate before your very eyes.
- Teemo: I will never condone the use of this toxic badger, but if you must, do it here. His speed, blinds and traps are super useful on this map. Buy a Liandry’s Torment and throw down some mushrooms – your enemies will disintegrate before they’ve even had time to react. Run up to an enemy straggler, tag them with a blinding dart, then run away spamming your laugh. That’s the Teemo way.
