Early this year when it was announced that a remastered version of Legend of Mana was coming out this June 24. As a remaster, it’s set to offer various updates that included high-resolution graphics and improved UI. Even the backgrounds have been remastered and redrawn.
This week, publisher Square Enix gave us a peek at what the game has to offer. In particular, we now have an idea of two story arcs, which are:
- The Escad Story Arc
- Players follow the story of four childhood friends Escad, Daena, Matilda, and Irwin. We learn more about their friendships as well as conflicting motives, especially in the aftermath of the Faerie Wars that occurred a decade ago.
- The Dragon Killer Arc
- Players get to join Larc, known as the dragoon of Drakonis, as he embarks on a mission to defeat the Dragons of Knowledge as well as challenge a dragon named Sierra.
In Legend of Mana, players take on the role of a protagonist who starts a journey to find the mystical Mana Tree, something that he has seen only in a dream. However, the player later learns that the world map is actually empty. Besides meeting new characters and battling monsters, players get access to an orchard located in a secluded den as they progress. It’s currently being inhabited by Trent, an ancient tree.
Other details of the remastered version include:
- Exclusive Equipment
- Players can create unique equipment or change any existing equipment through the Equipment Smithy.
- Once the instrument workshop is ready, players can also make enchanted instruments.
- Featured Pets
- Players can capture eggs and hatch pet monsters.
- The pet monsters have supportive Synchro Effects that can help players win battles.
- The pets live at the monster corral and can be found on the grounds of the player’s home.
- Players can make pets stronger by having them play the Ring Ring Land mini-game.
- Magical Golems
- Golems are magical life forms that have been imbued with the power of Mana.
- Players can control different aspects of the golem, like HP and stats.
- Golems can also be equipped with at least 50 different offensive and defensive abilities.
Legend of Mana is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch for $29.99.
