After the latest footage and trailer from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at The Game Awards, Nintendo has given more information about the upcoming title for the Wii U and Nintendo Switch.

This new information centers around the game’s amiibo functionality and how the new 30th Anniversary Legend of Zelda amiibo will work with Breath of the Wild .

According to the official Nintendo Tumblr, The Legend of Zelda 30 th Anniversary amiibo offer random items you can use in-game during The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Nintendo even teases that players may even receive a treasure chest with a rare item.

Here’s a list of the different The Legend of Zelda 30th Anniversary amiibo and what they give Breath of the Wild players in-game.

  • 8-bit Link will reward you with a random number of barrels. You might find rupees inside too!

  • Ocarina of Time Link will reward you with a random amount of meat.

  • Toon Link will reward you with a random amount of fish.

  • Wind Waker Zelda will reward you with a random selection of plants.

By simply tapping your amiibo, the in-game items will appear from the sky in front of Link and Nintendo even provided a nifty GIF to show how it looks during the game.

Breath of the Wild looks to change up the Zelda formula by putting Link in a Hyrule that he doesn’t recognize, where he has to fight and scavenge to survive. From the looks of the new footage/trailer from The Game Awards, there’s a ton of new characters and mechanics that will make Breath of the Wild unique.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will release in 2017 for the Nintendo Wii U and Switch.
