Every major update in a game introduces a lot of new content. For Fallout 76 , the Steel Reign update introduces a new questline and new locations. Another change that arrived in the game is the Legendary Crafting System.
This was actually revealed to players last week though at the time, not much was explained. Basically, what it does is allow players to convert normal items into legendary ones. It can also let players re-roll the attributes of existing legendary items and even upgrade or downgrade the star ratings of these items.
To craft, players need the new component called Legendary Cores. These are earned as rewards by finishing Seasonal Events, Public Events, and Daily Ops. Players also need Legendary Modules which they can get from Purveyor Murmrgh by exchanging it with some Legendary Scrips.
Once these two are available, players just need to visit their Weapon and Armor Workbenches. Then, open the Modify menu to start with Legendary Crafting.
Here are the other things that players can take note of when it comes to Legendary Crafting:
- Applying a Legendary Upgrade to a normal item turns it into a legendary version of that item.
- It has one, two, or three randomly assigned legendary attributes and based on the tier of Legendary Upgrade applied.
- Applying a Legendary Upgrade to an existing Legendary Item increases or decreases the number of legendary attributes that item has.
- This is dependent on the tier of Legendary Upgrade applied.
- Here are examples of each option:
- Upgrade: Modding a 1-star item with a 3-star Legendary Upgrade turns it into a 3-star version of that item with three random attributes.
- Downgrade: Modding a 3-star item with a 2-star Legendary Upgrade turns it into a 2-star version of that item with two random attributes.
- Re-roll: Modding a 3-star item with a 3-star Legendary Upgrade replaces all three of the existing item’s attributes and applies three new ones at random.
Legendary Power Armor
Legendary Crafting can also be used to make pieces of Legendary Power Armor. Like weapons and armor, the pieces can be upgraded, downgraded, or even re-rolled. To make this happen, players can simply visit any Power Armor Station and then modify their favorite set of Power Armor to apply Legendary Upgrades.
Most of the Legendary attributes available for normal armor apply as well to Power Armor. However, exceptions like these exist:
- 1-Star
- Auto-Revive: Chance to revive using a Stimpak.
- 3-Star
- Acrobat’s: Reduced fall damage.
- Improved Sneaking: Harder to detect while sneaking.
- Diver’s: Grants underwater breathing.
- Unyielding: +3 to all stats (except END) when low health.
- Weightless: 90% less carry weight, does not affect that Chameleon mutation.
- Limb Damage: Reduced Limb Damage.
To prepare for the Legendary Crafting System, new Legendary Attributes were added while some of those existing were improved. You can view those changes here.
