Luke Cage is the next Netflix, Marvel Studios collaboration but fans have yet to receive any word when the new series starring Mike Colter will premiere.
However, the official Jessica Jones Twitter account posted an image that may give fans a hint as to when they can expect Luke Cage’s story to be told. And it looks to be sometime in November.
The Luke Cage Netflix series is reportedly going to show Luke’s background and how he came to gain his invulnerable skin and enhanced strength. But after the events of Jessica Jones, we’ll likely get Luke’s origins via flashbacks while he deals with a present problem, like his best friend turned super villain. Here’s the rumored synopsis for the Luke Cage series.
“Luke Cage is a former gang member who is framed for a crime. In prison, he volunteers for a medical experiment that goes awry, giving him super strength and bulletproof skin. Using his newfound powers, Cage escapes and becomes a hero for hire. His archenemy is Willy Stryker, a former childhood friend from Harlem. The two committed petty crimes together, and both fell for the same woman, Reva Connors, which led to their eventual falling out. It was Stryker who framed Cage for a drug deal that sent him to prison.”
The Luke Cage Netflix series is currently filming in the Bronx so a November release date for the new series is not out of the realm of possibility. With Comic-Con International coming in July, we’ll likely learn more.
In the meantime, Netflix will have Daredevil season 2 premiere in March and the second season of Jessica Jones has already been confirmed for a likely 2017 release date, and not to forget the Iron Fist and The Defenders crossover, so there is plenty of Marvel goodness.
But what do you think of the Luke Cage release date tease? Will we get the series in November? Sound off in the comments section.
