Luke Cage is one of the many attractions at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con and a new poster for the upcoming Netflix and Marvel Studios series has appeared before the largest pop culture event in the country.

Marvel Entertainment Chief Creative Officer (and pretty damn good artist) Joe Quesada created the poster below, telling TV Insider about Mike Colter, the man who is Luke Cage.

“Mike gives Luke a smoldering strength,” Quesada says. “He’s sexy and calming. And the ladies love it.”

The character Luke Cage first appeared in the Netflix series Jessica Jones and is now stomping around his native Harlem to stop crime using his strength and impervious skin.

Mike Colter talked about the series with Entertainment Weekly during a Facebook Live session where he detailed some of the series’ plot.

“There are politicians and then there are shady characters that function on the other side of the law. Who does what? I won’t say, but this becomes a situation where there are a lot of people who want to help Harlem and think they have Harlem’s best interests, but, ultimately, just because they think or say they have Harlem’s best interests, sometimes they’re being very selfish or being very short-sighted. So sometimes what they’re doing is actually harming the community,” Colter said.

Luke Cage is set to release on Netflix Sept. 30.

Anyone attending San Diego Comic-Con can pick up the above poster at the Marvel Comics booth from July 20-24.

The Luke Cage panel at Comic-Con will take place Thursday, July 21 from 8:45-9:45 p.m. EDT so be sure to check back with iDigitalTimes with all your latest Luke Cage news.
