Championship Sunday in the NFL is upon us as the the league moves into its Final Four. At stake is a berth in the Super Bowl and for Pittsburgh, New England, Atlanta and Green Bay, their seasons are not a success unless they make it to the big game and win it. As is usual every week during the football season, the team at Madden NFL 17 released the latest player rating updates to coincide with Championship Sunday.
For the full list of players who saw their ratings change, check out Madden NFL 17 rating database. Let's start with one of the stars with last week's Green Bay vs. Dallas game.
Jared Cook, TE, Green Bay Packers (up 3 points to 85 Overall)
A player who was released from the dreadful Los Angeles Rams, Cook found new life with Green Bay after a rash of injuries ravished the Packers’ receiver corps. Cook had six catches for 106 yards and one touchdown with the highlight being his sideline catch of an Aaron Rodgers laser throw to set up the game-winning field goal.
Cook’s awareness jumped up three points along with his spectacular catch and catching in traffic ratings as well. Heading into the NFC Championship Game against the Falcons, Cook may have a bigger role due to questionable playing status of two Green Bay receivers. In regards to Madden, Cook is a starting tight end on any team and for Ultimate Team, his card should be in your sights at all times.
Brock Osweiler, QB, Houston Texans (down one point to 74 Overall)
Osweiler's performance against the Patriots showed that he is not the answer for Houston at quarterback. 23-for-40, 197 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions is not a performance for a starting quarterback in the playoffs. And to think, Osweiler is making about $15 million for the next three years.
In addition to Brock seeing his overall rating drop, his short and medium throwing accuracy dropped as well, making him a one of the worst selections at quarterback in Madden Ultimate Team. If you have another option you can choose from, choose someone else. With Osweiler, you get insane throwing power at 96 but if you can’t throw the ball accurately, then the throwing power means nothing.
Tom Brady, QB, New England Patriots (down one point to 94 Overall)
We finally saw a crack in Tom Brady’s infallible armor last Saturday night as he threw two interceptions against the Texans. Brady threw two interceptions for the entire regular season so him throwing two in a single game is an abnormality. His Patriots still won, but there was something to Brady having a non-Brady game with below 50 percent completion percentage.
While many of Brady’s ratings didn’t fall too much, his medium passing accuracy did fall, which could be alarming since the Patriots playbook in Madden features many medium range passes. With that said, Brady is still the quarterback to select in Ultimate Team if you wanna win some games.
