In a surprising move, Marvel has announced that a live action Cloak and Dagger series will be coming to the Freeform channel in a straight to series order.

The new series will follow our titular duo Tandy Bowen (Dagger) and Tyrone Johnson (Cloak) as they navigate through life, love and superpowers. According to Variety , the Cloak and Dagger series on Freeform is described as such:

“The live-action interracial romance follows the duo, two teenagers from very different backgrounds, who find themselves burdened and awakened to newly acquired superpowers while falling in love — Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness. They quickly learn they are better together than apart, but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging.”

Those unfamiliar with the Cloak and Dagger characters should know that the pair has been a fan-favorite staple of fans of street-level heroes and the Spider-Man corner of the Marvel Universe for years. And this will be the first time the characters will appear in a live-action capacity.

Cloak and Dagger is Marvel’s debut on the Freeform channel, formerly ABC Family (a sister company of ABC, which houses Agent Carter and Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD) and No writer is attached to the Cloak and Dagger series, but a search is underway.
