“Marvel’s Spider-Man” was a big success among both critics and consumers when it launched in September on PS4, so naturally, players wanted more of it. Developer Insomniac Games has obliged, with two DLC episodes already released and a third one on the way in a matter of days.
“Silver Lining,” the game’s final add-on release for the moment, launches on Dec. 18. Players can get it for $10 or buy the “The City That Never Sleeps” season pass, which comes with all three DLC episodes, for $25.
As the trailer demonstrates, this one is all about Silver Sable. The powerful mercenary is a major character in the main game and “has stormed back to reclaim her stolen Sable International tech,” according to the PlayStation Blog post announcing the release date.
The villainous Hammerhead is once again a focus of the “Silver Lining” DLC. He has been a major antagonist in the other two DLC episodes, “The Heist” and “Turf Wars,” and “Silver Lining” promises to wrap up that storyline.
Insomniac promised new missions, upgrades and more variety among enemies and crimes around the city. The DLC will also come with Hammerhead bases to take out.
Finally, costumes are the most important part of the “Marvel’s Spider-Man” experience, and the newest DLC recognizes that. “Silver Lining” will give players access to Aaron Aikman’s alternate universe Spider-Man costume, as well as a cyborg Spider-Man suit. Additionally, the game will pack in Peter Parker’s suit from the “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” movie.
Those who pre-order the film on the PlayStation Store will get a voucher for the “Silver Lining” DLC.
