The release window for Mass Effect Andromeda keeps getting narrowed down by EA, but no one has confirmed an official release date just yet. The latest news comes from a presentation EA gave at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference.
At around the 18:30 mark, we hear the relevant quotes regarding the release date for not only Mass Effect Andromeda , but also Battlefield 5 and Titanfall 2. The full quote is as follows, transcription courtesy of NeoGAF user salromano.
"We've got a great year ahead... we've got our Battlefield first-person shooter game coming in the third quarter, and our third-party title that Respawn, our partner, built, it's called TItanfall , it's the second title that they brought into that brand. Both of those are first-person shooters and will be targeted around the fast, action-driven shooter market, as well as the strategy-driven market in that quarter... We have our Mirror's Edge runner game this first quarter, and then we have Mass Effect , which is a sci-fi action game, in our fourth quarter. So big year ahead and we're pretty excited."
That quote comes from Blake Jorgensen, the CFO of EA. Let’s break down what it means.
First off, Jorgensen confirms the existence of a new Battlefield game that will be coming out somewhere between October and December. Along with that, Jorgensen also confirms Titanfall 2 for release in the same timeframe.
At the end, Jorgensen mentions that Mass Effect Andromeda will be releasing in EA’s fourth quarter, confirming his earlier statements about the game’s release time. This means some time between January and March of 2017. While that may sound like a longer wait time, the release window makes sense given EA’s history with the Mass Effect franchise.
Mass Effect 2 was the first game in the series published by EA. That game was released on January 26, 2010, which is the same window for Mass Effect Andromeda . Mass Effect 3 was then released on March 6, 2012, slightly outside of that time frame.
So what do you think? Do you wish Mass Effect Andromeda would be coming out in 2016? Are you just hopeful that BioWare can continue their success with the franchise? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
