It looks like the live action Minecraft movie is adding another cast after Jason Momoa. It's being reported that Matt Berry is currently in negotiations to be part of the movie.
While Berry may not be as "big" as Momoa when it comes to fanbase, he does have his very own supporters. It harkens back to his roles in TV shows like Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, The Mighty Boosh, and The IT Crowd. If you're not familiar with them, these are mainly British TV shows. For those who want something more modern, he was the voice of Poseidon in The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run as well as the voice for Prince Merkimer in Disenchantment. Still not familiar? He was the voice of 8D8 in the show The Book of Boba Fett.
While there's no word, as of writing, on whether he'll finally get the role, one thing is clear: if he joins the movie, expect a lot of comedy in it.
Behind the Scenes
We're not basing the details above on simply just getting Berry. That's because those currently connected with the upcoming film are in the same genre, comedy.
The director is none other than Jared Hess, who was responsible for movies like Napoleon Dynamite, Nacho Libre, and Masterminds. Helping bring his vision to life are writers Chris Bowman and Hubbel Palmer, with backgrounds including Masterminds and Napoleon Dynamite (TV Series). Helping them is Markus Persson, who served as writer for the video games Minecraft and Wurm Online.
While not much has been revealed about this upcoming movie, what we do know is that it's about an Ender Dragon on the path of destruction and a young girl and her friends who set out on a journey to save the Overworld.
