As we move towards the beginning of a new NASCAR season, NASCAR Heat Evolution announced its upcoming 2017 season update will release on Feb. 21. The update will cost $9.99 and will be available for players on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the PC.

While there has been many changes in NASCAR during offseason (including a name change to the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series for its major division), not every change will be reflected inside this update. According to Gameinformer, the update mainly focuses on gameplay than the rules that were instituted during the offseason. The new rules may be included in a new NASCAR Heat Evolution game, which, according to the game’s developers Dusenberry Martin Racing, would happen annually.

In addition to the rules changes, NASCAR Heat Evolution will also not feature other minor changes such as switches at certain tracks according to the NASCAR Heat Evolution website.

“Due to the production timeline, the 2017 Team Update does not include the recently announced rule changes, Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series branding, or any track changes such as the new Phoenix Start/Finish line.”

Essentially what you have for this update is just an update of the racing teams and paint schemes. It is a substantial list as there were many driver switches, retirements and team changes during the NASCAR offseason. The questions does remain: Is this update worth $9.99? And does this 2017 season update mean that a new NASCAR Heat Evolution is not going to happen?
