Racing and adrenaline rush aren’t the only things that make the Need for Speed franchise great. There’s also the kick-ass music that accompanies you as you try to outrun the boys in blue. The upcoming game Need for Speed Unbound isn’t all that different with a curated soundtrack that features trailblazing global artists in electronic music and hip-hop.
Be ready to listen music from A$AP Rocky along with the likes of Alina Pash, Balming Tiger, Brodinski, COUCOU CHLOE, Lous and the Yakuza, SCH, Slikback, Villano Antillano, The Synaptik, and Shirin David. This extensive track list allows players around the world to learn more about these new artists while making their way around Lakeshore.
In addition, players can now customize their cars with decals from a selection of music artists featured in the soundtrack. This new feature is a first for the series.
Race to the Beat
The highlight of the soundtrack is, of course, A$AP Rocky. Along with his creative agency AWGE, he premiered his new track titled “Sh*ttin’ Me” as part of the game’s reveal trailer. By the way, this is an exclusively licensed track in the game. The music video for the song is scheduled for debut on December 2.
Other songs in the soundtrack include works from other AWGE artists such as Kelvin Krash, slowthai, Smooky MarGielaa, Thoto, and ICYTWAT. There’s also A$AP Mob favorites A$AP Ant and A$AP Ferg.
Going back to A$AP Rocky, he’s not just contributing his song to the game. He’s also set to appear in-game as the leader of the Takeover Events, a new replayable precision driving mode where the community can take over parts of the city and celebrate driving with style over pure speed.
Listen to the Score
A soundtrack with music from up-and-coming artists isn’t all that Need for Speed Unbound has to offer. Players can also enjoy the original genre-blending score composed by none other than Brodinski. For those not familiar, Brodinski is a French electronic and hip-hop producer and the founder of the French electro label Bromance Records.
Brodinski has a close relationship with the underground rap community in Atlanta and has even dedicated his career to mentoring and promoting the young and talented rappers in the region. Players can look forward to listening to his collaborations with Tohji, JMK$, and Peewee Longway in the game’s soundtrack.
Brodinski's original score is also coming to Spotify beginning December 2.
In a statement, Senior Brand Manager for Need for Speed Chase Straight revealed that a lot of the players are sure to notice the focus on the global expressions of hip-hop. He added that almost half of the soundtrack is non-English which puts a spotlight on the artists and their art that are making waves in their region of the world.
