The latest installment of the Dragon Age franchise debuted just over a year ago, but work on the next chapter may very well be underway. On Friday night, BioWare developer and Dragon Age executive producer Mark Darrah posted a curious poll on Twitter, which may provide insight on what to expect next for the fantasy role-playing game.
In his Twitter poll, Darrah asked simply: “Would you play a Dragon Age Tactics game?” The question generated over 11,000 responses before the poll concluded the following afternoon. Fans were obviously into the idea, even if a fifth of them flat out said no. So, what exactly does a Dragon Age Tactics game entail anyways?
In a later tweet, Darrah clarified the idea, stating: “tactics as in a game like Fire Emblem or XCom.” This means that Dragon Age Tactics would likely replicate the turn-based, strategy style of play consistent in the two games he mentions. For those concerned about the possibility of Dragon Age’s typical RPG style being swept aside, don’t worry! Darrah went on to say that “this would be in addition to the main series line as opposed to instead of.”
The poll closed on Saturday with half of all voters saying they would definitely play a Dragon Age Tactics title. With an encouraging results, could this mean that Darrah and BioWare will push forward with a revamped Dragon Age? If so, it would be a “full game” as the developer described.
Stay tuned for updates as this story progresses. In the meantime, keep playing Dragon Age: Inquisition, I guess.
