Toho has teased a brand new Godzilla film in 2016 but with the calendar shifting we are now getting more information and photos for the new movie that is set to release in Japan on July, 29.
The new Godzilla movie is going to be titled Godzilla: Resurgence and there is a lot of mystery surrounding the new Toho film. Especially considering this will be the first Toho Godzilla movie since 2004’s Final Wars that had pretty much all of the kaiju facing off in one last battle.
But with Godzilla : Resurgence, it seems that the King of the Monsters will look more menacing and creepy. Take a look below.
This more radioactive looking Godzilla could hint at what the film may be about. Before Final Wars, Toho created Godzilla vs Destoroyah in 1995 that centered around Godzilla becoming nuclear and on the verge of exploding.
Long story short, Godzilla and his son (Godzilla Jr.) fight Destoroyah and with the army’s help defeat it. Godzilla is then frozen before he can explode and take out Tokyo but the Godzilla many fans knew and loved died. However, the life force from Godzilla goes into his son making him the new King of the Monsters.
Could Toho be retelling this film or the be taking the whole Godzilla going nuclear angle for Godzilla: Resurgence? It’s possible, since Toho would go on to retell classic Godzilla movies in the years following Godzilla vs Destoroyah.
But we will have to wait and see. In the meantime, take a look at the Toho teaser for Godzilla: Resurgence and let us know what you think of the new look for Godzilla down in the comments section.
