Fans got their first glimpse of Iron Fist when Netflix unexpectedly released a brief teaser at San Diego Comic-Con in July. Still without a release date, Iron Fist is the next Marvel series to debut on Netflix after Luke Cage premieres Sept. 30. We still don’t know much about the series, but we’re hoping New York Comic Con can change that. Marvel has released their official panel schedule and Iron Fist is on there. Marvel’s head of television, Jeph Loeb, said to expect sneak peeks and footage from all their new shows, including Iron Fist.

“Fans are going to love the sneak peeks of our newest shows that we have lined up for New York Comic Con," said Loeb. "With a first look at Marvel’s Iron Fist and a new episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., we want to blow you away with the exclusive Marvel content at this year’s Show.”

The first teaser shows Danny Rand laying in the snow with airplane debris. Two monks approach him as the screen blurs into black. Fans familiar with Iron Fist know these monks take him to the mystical city of K'un Lun where meets Lei-Kung, becomes a martial arts master, and eventually defeats Shou-Lao to gains the power of the Iron Fist (more info on that here).

The teaser continues with an aerial view of New York City and Danny, barefooted, walks down the sidewalk dressed in rags. He wakes strapped to a bed in a mental hospital and breaks down the wall to escape.

Hopefully, we’ll meet some more cast members in the new footage. Colleen Wing (played by Jessica Henwick) and Harold Meachum (played by David Wenham) are two of the main characters in Iron Fist. If rumors prove true, we also may see Shang-Chi and Steel Serpent.

The Iron Fist panel will take place Saturday, Oct. 8 from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. The cast will be on hand for the first time to answer questions. Stay tuned for iDigitalTimes New York Comic Con coverage from Oct. 6-9.

The Struggle Is Not Real
If you’re looking for shock value, Iron Fist does not have it. Netflix and Marvel have turned an interesting superhero into a basic bro.
  • Colleen Wing is a delight
  • The last four episodes are significantly more entertaining
  • Problematic character development
  • Lackadaisical fight scenes
