Production on Star Wars: Episode 8 continues as new set photos from Malin Head, Ireland reveal a glimpse of the work being done along the Wild Atlantic Way. Some serious construction is underway as Episode 8’s crew appear to be working on some new locations. There’s close to 300 crew members posted outside the sleepy Irish town, as filming is allegedly set to commence over the weekend.
The leak comes by way of Making Star Wars, where a full gallery of the latest Episode 8 set photos is available for viewing. Here’s a quick snap of the Star Wars set at Malin Head, below:
A news video courtesy of Independent.ie also showcases the Episode 8 set, as well as detailing the local tourism impact. Pretty interesting watch:
So, what could this latest set be? It’s hard to tell at this point. Making Star Wars suggests it could resemble a Jedi Temple set that was constructed in County Kerry, Ireland. A few of the Malin Head photos showcase tall, oil rig-esque structures, but they’re too incomplete to confirm. A couple photos also reveal a ship-like structure perched atop a cliff. Maybe a character’s starfighter or freighter? Hopefully more details slip out soon.
Either way, it’s probably for the best not to be *too spoiled*. We know that production is underway despite Episode 8’s pushback to Winter 2017. As the date draws closer, we’re bound to gain more insight into the Star Wars production process.
Until then, mark your calendars. Star Wars: Episode 8 arrives in theaters Dec. 15, 2017.
