The Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom launch date is being pushed back again, publisher Bandai Namco confirmed on Tuesday, to give Level-5 more time to polish its follow-up to 2013’s Wrath of the White Witch. Word of the delay will certainly be disappointmenting to players around the globe. But it probably won’t be much of a surprise to anyone who’s been following development since Revenant Kingdom was announced during the 2015 PlayStation Experience.
This is the second time we’ve seen the game’s launch pushed back since the start of 2017. Ni no Kuni 2 was originally expected to debut sometime in November before slipping to January 2018. Now it apparently won’t be ready until March. The delay was announced via a Bandai Namco press release featuring a brief explanation from Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino.
“The development of our latest project, Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, is coming along very nicely and we can’t wait to share this new adventure with you, our fans. In an effort to constantly innovate, we’ve also implemented new modes in Ni no Kuni II, including the new Skirmish and Kingdom Modes,” Hino wrote. “However, with innovation and new ideas comes the need to ensure everything works together in a fun and cohesive way; this means we’ll need a bit more time to make sure the entire Ni no Kuni II experience meets our highest quality standards. So today, I would like to ask for everyone’s patience as we move Ni no Kuni II’s worldwide release.”
Bandai Namco and Level-5 also published a new Ni no Kuni 2 trailer on Tuesday, featuring a minute and a half of cinematic footage and comments from the game’s Japanese voice-over cast. The interviews don’t tell us anything about the game we didn’t already know but those interested in voice-over work might enjoy the insights offered by Ni no Kuni 2’s vocal talent.
