A new behind-the-scenes trailer for Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom is out now, one week after word of the game’s two-month launch delay. The new clip features comments from senior members of the dev team, including a surprisingly relatable explanation for Ni no Kuni 2’s dual protagonists and the real-world inspirations behind some in-game destinations.
The number of surprises you find in this week’s trailer will almost directly correlate to the number of previous NnK2 trailers you’ve seen. The new BTS trailer revisits many people and places from prior videos, including the city of Goldpaw that’s been featured in several Ni no Kuni 2 previews. But there were still a few new sights in this week’s footage. That or we’ve seen so many trailers in 2017 that we’re starting to forget the contents of older promotional clips. Either is possible.
The new trailer seems to be the first in a series from Level-5 and Bandai Namco, based on the accompanying YouTube information. It’s not clear how the videos will differ from one another, whether it’ll just be some new Ni no Kuni 2 gameplay in each clip or if future BTS trailers will focus on specific aspects of the JRPG. Anything would probably work though, now that fans will have to wait another two months for the Revenant Kingdom release date. The game is so bright and colorful that it’s hard not to get excited about any new gameplay that hits the web. And that goes double for new footage interspersed with background information on design decisions we might not give a second thought.
