With Nintendo’s E3 Direct recently concluded, it’s time to take a look at some of the best titles announced at their conference. In particular, Nintendo showcased Luigi’s Mansion 3, the third iteration of the famed series starring Mario's brother.
In Luigi’s Mansion 3, you play once again as Luigi embarking on a dream vacation alongside Mario and friends. After receiving an invitation to a very luxurious hotel, things take a turn when King Boo reveals that the invitation was a ploy to capture the Italian plumber and his friends. Luigi manages to escape his clutches, and, once again with the assistance of Professor E. Gadd, he must overcome his cowardly nature to traverse the spooky mansion and save Mario and all his friends.
The newest trailer also sheds some light on some of the new features found in the Luigi's Mansion 3. Watch it below to take a gander at some of these key features.
Luigi now wields an upgraded Poltergust G-00, which has enhanced capabilities for defeating the ghosts that plague the mansion. While Luigi is still as cowardly as ever, he can use the Poltergust G-00 to suck ghosts in, effectively eliminating them. One of the newest features, however, allows Luigi to just suck a ghost partway then slam him, which is effective against groups of ghosts. The Poltergust G-00 is now also equipped with a suction cup, which Luigi can use to move objects that are in his way, or just destroy items in combination with a slam to reveal the treasures inside. Luigi now has a burst skill with the Poltergust G-00 as well, which blows away any enemy close to you, making it useful for close calls.
Luigi also has access to a gooey doppelganger, named Gooigi. Gooigi can traverse areas that Luigi cannot, like spikes, tight spaces, bars, or just help Luigi out in sucking large objects away to clear paths. You can team up with another player via Joy-con to control Gooigi, much like Cappy and Mario in Super Mario Bros. Odyssey. However, since Gooigi is made of goo, he can easily get washed away when he comes into contact with water.
Luigi’s Mansion 3 will be released exclusively on the Nintendo Switch sometime in 2019.
