Nintendo has released the list of its upcoming releases for the 3DS and Switch, including the console’s first streaming service.
According to the official Nintendo press release detailing the latest Nintendo Download updates, the streaming service Hulu will be available to download on the eShop when it updates on Friday.
What’s interesting about this news is that Nintendo snuck the announcement in the press release while not providing any information on the upcoming app. The link to the Hulu on Switch page doesn’t have any information either.
Here’s the portion of the Nintendo press release that mentions Hulu’s inclusion in the eShop.

Nintendo fans have been clamoring for another use for the Switch since its release in March, but Nintendo has been adamant about making the console gaming-first. In an interview with The Washington Post , Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime said the following:
“We built the Nintendo Switch to be a world-class gaming device, meaning we want you first and foremost to play games on the system and have an incredibly fun experience.
We’re talking to a range of companies about other services, companies like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon — things that will come in time. In our view, these are not differentiators. What differentiates us is the way you play with the Nintendo Switch and what you can play. And that will continue to be our focus into the future as we continue driving this platform.”
In September, a Netflix customer representative told a Switch owner an app for their streaming service was already in the console and just needed Nintendo to activate it. So it seems like a matter of time before other streaming services arrive on the Switch as well.
