New details on next month’s Nioh beta have finally been released by Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo, including the ten-day window of accessibility for the game’s next test and some of the new content we’ll see in Nioh when the game returns to PSN in August.
Last month, Koei Tecmo announced plans to host a second Nioh pre-launch testing period. The second round of testing gives PlayStation 4 owners who missed the Nioh alpha another chance to play the upcoming action RPG. It also provides valuable feedback, like bug and balance testing, for the folks at Team Ninja. Now, we finally know when the next Nioh testing period will begin, courtesy of a blog post from Koei Tecmo Europe community manager Chin Soon Sun.
According to Sun, Nioh will return to the PlayStation Network on Aug. 23 and remain available to the PS4 community until Sept. 6. Once the ten day window has ended, the Nioh servers will be shut down again and players will have to wait until the game’s retail debut before getting another chance to play. The beta will include an all-new tutorial level, designed to familiarize players with Nioh’s complex combat mechanics, and an unannounced area that will presumably be revealed a bit closer to next month’s test. We’ll also get our first look at more weapons being designed for the game, including axes, katanas and spears not featured in the Nioh alpha.
For more on Nioh, take a couple of minutes to watch the game's E3 trailer and/or check out our interview with Nioh director Fumihiko Yasuda. Then head down to the comments section and let us know if you’re planning to participate in the Nioh beta when it begins on August 23.
Nioh is in development exclusively for PS4. The game is expected to debut in late 2016.
