No Man’s Sky is here and players everywhere are wondering the same thing: “How do I not die?” Life support is crucial to exploring alien planets, and become even more important if the environment is hostile. Don’t worry, surviving isn’t that tough if you know what you’re looking for: Zinc.
Players have two main ways to keep safe, the life support module and the hazard protection shield. Both get drained by simply walking around outside, so make sure you keep an eye on your levels in the lower left corner of your screen.
To recharge your life support, you’ll need a red Isotope. Carbon, plutonium and Thamium9 all work perfectly here to charge up your life support. Keep an eye on red plutonium deposits or those red plant things for Thamium9 while exploring. When scanning, focus on the red diamond with a lightning bolt in it to track these elements down.
Hazard protection shields can also be recharged with either zinc, titanium or a shielding shard. Zinc is the easiest to find of the three, and is located on those yellow plant things. When using your scanner, you’ll want to focus in on the yellow diamond to track these guys down.
With enough Isotopes and zinc, you’ll be able to wander around for much, much longer. If you run out of any resource, your ship can also warm you back up and keep you safe.
