Overwatch 2 hasn’t been released yet. However, the recent live stream has certainly divided the community. Most people are positive about it, particularly the move to cut down the total players in a PvP match to just 10. But some Overwatch pro tank players are not cool with the idea because they fear that they might lose their jobs.
That said, those who are in favor of the change may need not wait for the official game’s release to know how it feels like.
Redditor “ajfis3” has developed a custom game mode by using Overwatch's Workshop mode feature. This fan-made game tries to mimic the things that players can expect in the sequel so they will have a glimpse of what’s to come.
Fan-Made Overwatch Game
The game’s workshop mode allows any person to create a custom game. The official page described it as "a simplified game scripting system that expands the customization features available in the Game Browser." You can use this feature to create a script to make rules and unique play conditions for Overwatch game modes.
The Redditor took notes from the live stream event last Thursday but instead of waiting to experience the upcoming changes, they've developed something pretty interesting. The custom game mode was made to showcase how the sequel’s PvP mode would look like in the final version.
Players could expect some hero-specific tweaks that were mentioned in the event. For instance, Zarya has an additional charge on her bubble shield ability. Mei’s damage has been adjusted to 120% to compensate for the lack of her main gun’s freezing ability, which is present in the original game.
It is also worth noting that some tank heroes like Sigma and Orisa have been removed as well. This is because the Redditor likely assumes that the developers are going to change their abilities drastically - possibly giving them skills that are not present in the original Overwatch.
