UPDATE: Leaked Trailer Shows New Skins, Emotes And When The Event Ends
Overwatch ’s Year Of The Rooster event starts tomorrow and players couldn’t be more hyped up. Unlike the Summer Olympics, Junkenstein’s Terror and Winter Wonderland events, which Blizzard kept secretly locked up until the events were released, there have been a ton of leaks for YOTR. We already know what most of the skins are going to look like and what the special Brawl is going to be, but there’s still a ton left unanswered.
Here’s exactly what we know and don’t know about Overwatch ’s Year Of The Rooster event:
What’s Been Confirmed
The YOTR will start on Jan. 24.
D.Va and Mei will get upper tier skins, most likely Legendaries.
What’s Been Leaked (Not Confirmed)
Reinhardt, Zenyatta, Winston and Roadhog will all get Journey To The West inspired skins.
Mercy and Zenyatta will also get skins, though they will be Epic or Rare.
There will be over 100 cosmetics, including voice lines, emotes, sprays, player portraits and skins
YOTR’s Brawl will be Capture The Flag, the FPS mainstay which has players on opposite teams trying to invade the enemy base, capture their flag and bring it back to their own base.
The event will last until
Feb. 6, though the date is mostly speculation.A new trailer shows the event lasting until Feb. 13
What We Don’t Know
When the event will actually start or end?
Will there be Chinese New Year inspired decorations on maps? King’s Row and Ecopoint: Antarctica were decked out for Winter Wonderland, will Lijiang Tower get an update?
Will there be special Loot Boxes or will the event give out rewards a different way?
Will Zarya finally get a cool-looking skin?
Can Xbox One players purchase Loot Boxes on day one? During Winter Wonderland, Xbox players couldn’t buy event Loot Boxes when the event first launched.
