Halloween Terror with Dr. Junkenstein Blizzard

Overwatch’s Halloween update is officially under way, bringing new skins and ambience to Blizzard’s flavorful shooter. One of the best parts of this event has to be Junkenstein’s Revenge, a new Brawl that completely redefines the rules of the game. You can play as McCree, Ana, Soldier: 76 and Hanzo (but can’t repeat) and play a horde mode similar to Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombie mode.

In the Brawl, you and three other allies stave off hordes of zombie robots, called zomnics, and the monsters that Junkenstein has created while defending castle doors. The full story can be found in the Overwatch comic that was leaked on Saturday .

Junkenstein’s Revenge has three modes: easy, medium and hard, with hard being nearly impossible to actually complete. Getting through easy was a challenge for me and Junkrat’s tires and exploding zomnics kept me from getting anywhere near the finish line on medium. Kaplan and the Overwatch team put a ton of effort into making this feel like an actual game mode, and it shows.

Here are a few basic tips for those that just can’t seem to beat Junkenstein and his monsters (even on easy.)

  • When killing Zomnics, always aim for the head. When you have dozens of angry, hungry robots going for your life bar, your best bet is to kill them all as quickly as possible. One full McCree clip aimed at the head should destroy a couple of angry bots.

  • Junkenstein’s henchmen need to be killed as soon as possible. If Reaper gets behind your team, you are as good as dead. Roadhog needs to be focused on by your entire team, or else he will just keep healing himself up and hooking whoever is stupid enough to get in his way.

  • The game isn’t over when the timer runs out; a final wave of baddies will come to eat your face. All of the monsters you already killed are coming back with Mercy’s ultimate and they will be pissed. Remember to focus on one at a time and you should be seeing that victory screen in no time.

If you are having some trouble getting through wave after wave of evil monsters, b1ackcat on reddit has written a comprehensive guide to beating Junkenstein, Reaper, Mercy and Frankenstein Roadhog.
