UPDATE: Well, Blizzard's social media manager definitely got in trouble today. @PlayOverwatch just released an apology tweet, saying that competitive mode will be coming out in June.
Overwatch is finally out and players have been screaming for a ranked mode. Players want to prove that they have the best Widowmaker NA, but without a ranking system it’s impossible. Currently, the Overwatch team is spending all their time working on it, getting all the bugs and kinks out so everything runs smoothly when it goes live.
The PlayOverwatch Twitter has given us a definite date for when competitive play is coming:
Competitive mode was originally in the closed Beta, but it was pulled after negative community feedback. Game director Jeff Kaplan announced in May that it would be coming back in mid-June , but I guess he overestimated how much work was left to do.
Look on the bright side though, it will give you plenty of time to practice your headshots so when everything goes live you’ll be the best you can be. Right now you are Goku in the hyperbolic time chamber, practicing doing push ups in intense gravity. When competitive play comes out, you’ll emerge even stronger, landing Roadhog hooks with your eyes closed.
