Owlcat Games, the developers of Pathfinder: Kingmaker, is starting a Kickstarter to help fund the release of their next game, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. Pathfinder was originally an upgraded version of the third edition of Dungeons & Dragons, and went on to gain some serious popularity and became one of the biggest names in the tabletop RPG genre.
Despite all the success and praise that Pathfinder achieves, publisher Paizo wasn't showing interest in developing another Pathfinder game. This changed in 2017 when Owlcat Games launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund their next project, Pathfinder: Kingmaker.
Owlcat Games has just announced that they are developing a sequel Pathfinder game that draws inspiration from the Wrath of the Righteous campaign from the tabletop version. However, the company will be launching a new Kickstarter to help polish up Wrath of the Righteous. The Kickstarter, well, kicks off on February 4.
In the announcement, Owlcat Games also mentioned that the company has received several investments to continue working on the project regardless of its Kickstarter campaign's success. The campaign is aimed at improving the game and there are expected to be new milestones in the Kickstarter.
The first Pathfinder game, Kingmaker was also funded through a successful Kickstarter with more than 18,000 backers. However, the game did not please many awaiting fans because of its uncooperative difficulty curve and the game itself was plauged glitches upon launch. We can only wait and see how this Kickstarter turns out and what content and bonuses Owlcat Games will add with this new round of funding.
The Kickstarter for Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous starts on February 4.
