Going into E3, there was some anticipation for Pro Evolution Soccer 2018. As mentioned previously by me, PES has been the “little engine that could” when it comes to sports games. It has gained popularity, despite not having the same kinds of licenses and teams like EA Sports’ FIFA. PES 2018 is one of the most anticipated releases based on what Konami teased just weeks ago.
The excitement continued after Konami released not just the new features for the game, but the pre-order bonuses including one very exciting bonus for those who purchase PES 2018 ahead of time.
With the capabilities that the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One has, PES 2018 is taking advantage of that with reworked animations and real world visuals. Before going into what that means exactly, Konami released a picture of the tunnel from FC Barcelona’s Camp Nou. On the left side is the real-life Camp Nou and on the right side is the virtual Camp Nou tunnel in PES 2018.
Something Konami promoted at E3 was that PES 2018 would feature better human motion and facial emotion in this edition of this game. When discussing NBA Live 18, one of the biggest differences in this edition of Live was how player movement flowed consistently and not clunky.
In some of the videos that released during E3 of PES 2018, the actions of the players on the pitch were smooth. The player’s faces changed based on the situation on the pitch, for good or the bad.
Regarding gameplay, PES 2018 upped the ante when it came to on the pitch dribbling and set pieces. Here are the three prominent features when it comes to dribbling in PES 2018.
CONTROL IMPROVEMENT
- Feeling of total control when in possession, ability to make the small and decisive movement to maintain the ball or make space.
PHYSICALITY REPRESENTATION
- Intelligent ball control allows you to keep the ball away from physically strong players.
STRATEGIC DRIBBLING
- Control the ball touch timing with just a simple stick control – the same applies when dribbling the defender or when executing feint moves.
Regarding set pieces, Konami must have taken advice from players of PES because they went to great lengths to make free and corner more realistic, especially the battles inside the box on corners. They also changed the camera angles during these plays to make the view easier for players to see everything during these times.
There was one more news item that Konami announced during E3. In addition to the pre-order bonuses that always comes with PES (myClub coins, different themes), Konami is giving players the fastest man in the world Usain Bolt to put on your squad in PES 2018.
“I love football and have played PES for as long as I can remember – it’s the best football game there is – and it’s a great honor to be a part of it and its success. When the opportunity arose to be a player in PES 2018, it was too good to be true,” said Bolt in a press release. “Having my face and movements scanned for use in the game was a fascinating process and I hope those who pre-order the game make full use of my pace and skill!”
PES 2018 will be released on Sept. 12 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the PC. What are thoughts PES 2018? Let us know in our comment section.
