The Pokémon franchise is all set to celebrate its birthday later this month. It’s not just any birthday but the 25th anniversary of one of the best-selling franchises. To celebrate this milestone, everyone is invited to a free virtual music concert headlined by none other than Post Malone. It’s going to be on February 27, which is also known as Pokémon Day.

A Bit of History
There have been a lot of Pokémon games released over the years but the very first one was Pokémon Monsters: Red and Green. This was launched on February 27, 1996, and back then was exclusive to Japan. It was later released in the US by 1998 and was titled Pokémon Red and Blue.
Since that time, the Pokémon invasion wasn’t limited to games since there were also anime, feature films, and of course, merchandise.
A Celebration
While Post Malone himself is a fan of Pokémon, that event isn’t only for fans of the series. It also serves as an invitation to all music fans worldwide, and that’s because the virtual music concert acts as the launching of the yearlong P25 Music program. By teaming up with Universal Music Group, the Pokémon Company hopes to bring more music throughout the year under this program. Everyone can expect some of the biggest names in music and one revealed previously was none other than Katy Perry.
Going back to the concert, Post Malone said in a statement that as a long time fan, he is happy to be headlining an event that celebrates the franchise’s 25th year. The concert is on February 27 at 7:00 PM EST. Those interested can watch it on these platforms:
Other Celebrations
It’s not just the concert as there are extra celebrations out there. Pokémon GO, for example, has its Kanto Tour event set on February 20. In fact, there’s even a special event after that.
On February 25, the Pokémon Company is handing out special passwords for players of the Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield to let them add a special Pikachu.
